Frisbee spins into tournament

As the school year draws to a close and the majority of sports at Wauwatosa East High School finished, the student-run ultimate frisbee program has had ample opportunity to get into full swing. Teams of students began playing games on May 5 in the program headed by seniors Matt Wolfson and Vince Zingale.

Girls track athletes compete at state

After last year’s Triple Crown wins, the Wauwatosa East High School girls track team entered this season with a great legacy to live up to.

Out of the seven members to reach sectionals this year, two qualified for state: junior high jumper Hannah Weinberg-Kinsey and senior discus thrower Esther Anderson. Anderson did not pass on to finals while Weinberg-Kinsey placed seventh. The state competition was held last weekend at the University of Wisconsin - LaCrosse.

Raiders wind up for summer

After the legacy of Jerry Toubl’s 27-year coaching run, the Wauwatosa East High School baseball team is starting off their summer season with fresh faces, both on the coaching staff and on the field.

“Shoes will need to be filled,” head coach Matt Dahlstrom said.

This is Dahlstrom’s first year as varsity coach, although he has worked previously as a freshman coach and as an assistant varsity coach at East. Dahlstrom is assisted by Dave Michna.

Softball completes rebuilding season

This year has proved to be a challenging one for the girls’ softball team at Wauwatosa East High School. With no wins during the season, both players and coaches agree that the biggest challenge was the lack of players and experience. With numbers decreasing, the program struggled to find enough girls for three teams.

“We had a very low turnout this year, so we had to drop the freshman team and move everyone up… [and] for the most part they have been up to the challenge,” head coach Megan Arndorfer said.
