Ceremony commends East’s alumni

Dr. Shirley Fitzsimonds-Wakefield ended up working with highly classified information as a military consultant. John K. Iglehart ended up writing for nationally renowned health journals. Dr. Edwin Lightfoot ended up winning the National Medal of Science. Monsignor David Malloy ended up at the Vatican. Tony Smith ended up playing in the National Basketball League. Orchestra teacher to leave East, move out of state

There are several teachers leaving at the end of this year for many different reasons, but due mainly to retirement.

Guy Andrew Johnson (known by his peers as Andy) is leaving for a different reason.

“I am getting married this summer, and my fiancée’s family is from northern New York, so we’re moving there to be closer,” Johnson said.

In New York, he will possibly teach middle school. He also plans to teach privately and perform in ensembles and “get gigs wherever I can,” he said.
